Ear infection is a very common disease among the new born babies. It may occur due to various reasons. The most common reason is the accumulation of fluid in the ear.

It is necessary to keep the kid upright while feeding it with a feeding bottle. At the time of cold, the nose should be suctioned properly to keep away germs form entering the ears. Besides, a baby should be kept away from cigarette smoke and dust as they cause fluid build up in the ear.

It is too made sure that the ears are dry. Fluid entering into the ears accumulates in the middle ear. This accumulated fluid gives birth to germs. These germs get pressed against the eardrum and thus become very painful. The symptoms that may be alarming to check for an ear infection in a baby are many.

In these cases, the baby cries inconsolably, it does not want to lie flat at the time of sleep or at the time of feeding. Actually while lying flat, the germs get pressed against the eardrum, so it does not want to lie. The doctor is to be consulted immediately if the ear of the baby looks infected.

Proper doses of antibiotics prescribed by the doctor will cure the infection. In addition to providing antibiotic, the baby should be held upright so that the fluid drains out of the ear and it gets relieved of the pain. The ear infection if not treated properly may result to permanent hearing disability.
