On development of thrush, white or yellow raised spots appear on the sides of the mouth and on the tongue. At the beginning the spots remain painless but gradually become painful and spread to the throat to cause soared throat. The infection may also spread to the diaper areas of the baby and the areas become reddened.

The baby does not feel like taking any food as it hurts its throat and thus cries relentlessly. If any baby is breast feeding, then the mothers can also get a contamination of the infection. Such types of infections are to be treated by the doctor. Generally the doctor prescribes antifungal medicines like ointments to use inside the mouth for a number of times in a day. The wiping of the diaper areas should be done carefully.

Wipers having high alcohol contents should be avoided as alcohol helps in the growth of the yeast. In order to do away with re-infection all the devices from which the baby is fed like cups, bottles, nipples, should be carefully cleaned for a least of two to three weeks of medication.

The bottles or other things may be boiled at about 125 degree Fahrenheit. If the infection does not heal for over a week then the doctor should be consulted immediately.
